The primary task of the Assessor’s Office is to:
- Provide assessments for taxation
- Update property ownership
- Oversee the appraisal map system
- Bill and collect taxes on the unsecured roll
- Provide information to taxpayers and public
In addition, the Assessor's office is responsible for processing Senior Citizens Tax / Rent Assistance applications, as well as handling all personal exemptions on real estate and personal property.
Mission
The mission of the Nye County Assessor's office is to serve the taxpayers and citizens of Nye County by producing equitable, timely, and accurate assessment rolls for the property owners and taxing agencies of Nye County, in conformance with the State Constitution and Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada Administrative Codes as listed in chapters 361 through 362 and 489.
