Volunteers Needed to Write Arguments for and Against Ballot Questions
Pursuant to NRS 295.121, Nye County is seeking volunteers to write the arguments advocating and opposing ballot questions that will appear on the 2016 General Election ballot. Pursuant to NRS, two committees of no more than three members each will be appointed for each ballot question. One committee will be comprised of citizens who favor approval of the ballot question, while the other committee of three different citizens will include people who oppose the question. Ballot committee members serve without compensation.
If no citizens apply to serve on the ballot question committees, the County Clerk shall, in consultation with the District Attorney, prepare an argument advocating approval by the voters and an argument opposing approval by the voters. The County Clerk will not prepare rebuttals of the arguments.
Those interested in serving on a ballot committee are required to submit a form indicating their interest. The form is available by clicking here or it can be obtained from the Nye County Clerk’s Office at 101 Radar Road, Tonopah, 1520 East Basin Avenue, Pahrump, call (775)482-8134. Completed interest forms must be submitted to the Nye County Clerk’s Office.
